Trump promised to be a “dictator on day one” and today is Day 1️⃣
Donald Trump repeatedly promised to be a “dictator on day one.” Today is Day One, and he’s taking action to deprive Americans of their Constitutional right of birthright citizenship, roll back environmental protections, lay the groundwork for mass deportations and detentions, and consolidate his power over the Executive Branch.
As I discussed on Israeli TV earlier today, today is a dark day for the overwhelming majority of Jewish Americans who did not support and do not trust Donald Trump because he directly threatens our values. Check out my interview on i24 earlier today for more on Trump’s inauguration and the legacy of Joe Biden, including on Israel and yesterday’s hostage release.
WATCH JDCA ON INAUGURATION DAY
Today, President Biden provided President Trump with something Trump refused to give him four years ago – a peaceful and dignified transfer of power. This demonstrates why we’ve been so proud to support President Biden and are grateful for his unwavering commitment to defending our democracy.
We also appreciate President Biden’s unprecedented efforts to stand with Israel, including his tireless efforts to ensure the release of hostages, and to combat antisemitism. It’s not too late to join thousands of JDCA members thanking Joe Biden for his lifetime of service. Add your name to the letter we’ll send to him in Delaware later this week.
We support President Biden’s final actions issuing pardons for January 6th Committee members and others because we know Donald Trump is driven by political vengeance and retribution. He has made no secret of his disdain for our democratic institutions and the rule of law. His pledge to pardon convicted January 6 insurrectionists is a disturbing sign of what’s to come, where rule of law will apparently only apply if you swear complete fealty to Donald Trump.
As Trump threatens the values and priorities of the vast majority of Jewish Americans, we are committed to defending democracy and freedoms, pursuing equal justice under the law, and holding the Trump administration accountable.
Our work has never been more critical than it is today, and we hope you’ll become a member of JDCA in 2025 as we aim to defend democracy and support Democrats who share our values. We’re here for you as a community, political voice and home, and address for taking action, and encourage you to become a member.
